Addictions and Habit Change
As humans we are creatures of habit, everyone has them and there is nothing inherently wrong with them. Some can even be helpful to us but there are those which may not be so beneficial and even cause us significant harm. These may be considered as bad habits.
Breaking those bad habits, which may have become so much a part of our everyday behaviour, can be very difficult. It could be something which we have been doing automatically over and over again, for a long period of time, meaning that the conscious no longer even has to put any effort into thinking about doing it – it happens subconsciously! How many times have you for example bitten your nails right down before you’ve even realised you’ve been doing it?
Hypnotherapy can be a very powerful tool for breaking unwanted habits, as the deep relaxation used during hypnosis creates a focused level of concentration, making you very mindful of your actions.
A number of different techniques are used, depending on each individual person’s situation, to help reverse those unhelpful learnt behaviours and replace them with positive messages.
